Grey Highlands moving forward with sale of Talisman lands, community group files legal challenge
Grey Highlands and a GTA-based group of investors have entered the closing period on a $2.5 million deal for the municipally owned portion of the former Talisman resort lands. Meanwhile, a community organization dedicated to the protection and environmental sustainability of the lands at the former resort is taking the municipality to court over the sale.

KIMBERLEY ON – On Friday June 11, 2021, the Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy (EBC), submitted a formal Letter of Intent (LOI) to Grey Highlands for the former ‘Talisman Lands’. The document outlines the confidential conditions of purchase and development. “The wishes of the local community group Friends of the Beaver Valley (FBV) played a large part in the direction of our submission,” says Executive Director of EBC Robert (Bob) Barnett. “Strategically the proposal focuses on our core principles of conservation and sustainable development.”
FOBV and EBC Disappointed to Learn of Conditional Sale of Talisman Lands
Kimberley ON – The Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy (EBC) and the Friends of the Beaver Valley (FBV) are extremely disappointed to learn from a press release that the Municipality of Grey Highlands has made a conditional sale of the lands they own on the Talisman site, the former golf course property (74.8 acres), and the recreational lands overlooking the ski hills (58.9 acres).
Pending Sale of Talisman Lands Is Met With Community Objection
Flesherton ON – The Municipality of Grey Highlands’ Council is voting to pass By-law 22.010 Wednesday, February 2, 2022 – 1:00 PM confirming the conditional sale of the upper and lower portions of the Talisman lands. The golf course at Talisman (75 acres) is being sold for $1 million and the upper rural land (59 acres) is being sold for $1.5 million.
