Much still to be determined about the future of former Talisman Resort properties despite Council stamp of approval

BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — On February 2, Grey Highlands Council unanimously approved a bylaw paving the way for the final sale of the municipally-owned lands in the Beaver Valley to Westway Capital Inc. (Westway). As such, Westway says they are looking forward to working with the Municipality of Grey Highlands and Grey County in building on the collective vision to revitalize the former Talisman Resort lands. But the hunger for more information continues to fester within the community.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: During the Grey Highlands Council meeting of December 15, 2021, four members of the public made presentations to the Mayor and Council calling attention to problems with respect to Item 7.2 Sale of Land Process — Upper and Lower Talisman, an Agenda item which called for the two pieces of land to be declared “surplus” to prepare for their eventual sale.

Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy makes cash offer to acquire Talisman lands from Grey Highlands

The Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy (EBC), a leading Canadian land trust, announced that on August 20, 2021 it submitted a formal written offer to the Municipality of Grey Highlands to acquire the Talisman lands owned by Grey Highlands in the Beaver Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This offer is further to the letter of intent submitted to Grey Highlands by EBC on June 11, 2021.
